Posted by TechInfo Admin on October 19, 2008

Mozilla Firefox 3.1 Beta 1 was made available for download yesterday, but one of the best features on the web browser has been switched off. Mozilla say that the new Firefox download helps to improve the performance as well as Web compatibility for the speed of Firefox.

The feature that users were all talking about before the release was TraceMonkey, this boosts rendering speeds up to 40 times faster than the previous version of Firefox. This feature has been switched off, you can enable it by typing “about:config” in the address bar.

Then you will need to type javascript.options.jit.content in the Filter field, you then need to change the setting to “True”, this is done by double-clicking the item. You will then have to restart Firefox 3.1 for the change the change to take effect.
